arringtons R5 NASCAR engines for sale

They should be cheaper than that. Mopar hasn't been in the racing biz for quite a few years. There was a Duster at the local strip with a truck engine in it. Sounded like nothing else there. He had a hard time getting it to hook. 800+ horse at 9000 rpm. You almost need pro stock suspension and tires.

you right dodge been out of it for long time now, joey arrington laid my half brother off the day mopar pulled out! went from a nascar engine dept to maintenance man at miller brewing in short order!! now days cant even get him to look at a mopar motor for me!!

Seems I remember a really big theft of similar type stuff not long ago.

How usable can one of those engine be in a streetcar? The power has to come in REALLY high up I think.

totally agree with 1994redram....you can take the motor out of NASCAR but can't take the NASCAR out of the 9000 RPM motor. Set up for A/C? These things barely idle!

I believe they are Ford bolt pattern to use Ford Top loader trans that changed to Liberty trans....

Also use Ford Main Bearing If I remember....

Know of several R5 P7engines, fresh ready to run for under 10k complete ready to run that have sold. Buddy of mine bought one and ran it in a Dart, well under 10k
Nobody will pay 25k, thats insane

That's exactly what I thought when I saw that add last week.

The guy I bought my Indy headed R1 from bought several nascar engines, ready to run. At the time he already had one in a tube chassis Duster and one on a pipe rack. He told me it was the best hp per dollar out there.

Yea, my buddy with the green Dart sport you met at BG had a 68 Dart with one of them in it. Ran 9.40’s at 142-143 with a 904.
It isnt a bolt in deal. Had to fab in the front end. But yea, good bang for the buck.

They're a good engine but also very limited on what you can do to them. They don't lend themselves to mods, so you'd better like them 'as is'. They're also not a low-end power engine, so don't drop one in a heavy vehicle and expect it to do well. By 'heavy', I mean probably 3200lbs+ if it's a drag car.

That’s for sure. Top end screamers they are. Not huge on torque, so the words of the day are “ Very Light weight car!”

Although it would be cool, Why do you think that either they get pushed or have to feather the clutch at 6k or burn rubber just to leave the pit box on a 3200 lb car lol!

Get a good convertor behind them they will leave just fine.
My Buddy went 1.27 ish 60 foot with his at 3000 pounds
If it was 3200 pounds it would have still left just fine. And that was a restrictor plate motor, 12 to 1 with a very mild camshaft. The heads are sensational.
They make torque, just not gobs like a high compression stroker
