Little help ?
Which way do I install these cone shaped washers On my hi po exhaust manifolds bolts ?
Thank you Alaskan !Pointy end towards the underside of the bolt head.
B !!! The idea is to spread the pressure out on the cast iron ears so you don't crack them off. Seal the end studs so they don't leak antifreeze!!!
That makes sense. I got these manifolds from that company up in Washington state. Then I bought the hardware and then I bought the exhaust manifold gaskets. I hope they’re worth the money. Thank you !The special washers allow exhaust manifolds do expand and contract during the heat cycles without having the fasteners lose their torque setting.
I bought Mahle gaskets. If you want to make sure this thing seals the first time, I'd recommend Remflex gaskets
What is the torque spec? I plan on using copper anti-rust/seize.I followed can directions and never had a problem and I used Fel pro gaskets with no leaks. Use what you have for the gaskets, just torque bolts properly because there only 5/16". I used anti rust on the bolts and studs in the head and on the nuts.
You the man tonysrt. Thanks bro.The bolt is 20 foot pounds and the nut is 15 foot pounds. As you can see not torqued too high.
By the way, those aren't just on "HiPo" engines...they're on 2 barrel engines as well as Slant 6's.
Thank you Alaskan !

I think he's referring to the washers???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were and the same manifold for the 318's unless they needed changed for a different application.Pardon my ignorance...
I thought, at least in 67, That the exhaust manifolds were the same hp 273 to standard 273?
In what way are the shaker manifolds different?
