New best 60'

I’ve never tried one of the BLP bodies...... that being said, a 1.590” Venturi 4150 carb seems pretty big for a motor that size.

My ported old school annular 850, which has a similarly sized Venturi, requires a certain level of “finesse” on the throttle pedal to get a really clean hit.
If you stomped on it fast, it would act just like yours in that video.

Dwayne, what would be your recommendation?

33, Mitch has ground up built and raced more fast cars than anyone I know, so I have no doubts about his intelligence. He went with me as a favor, the video's were to help me learn what my car was doing and to see the effects of changings being made. I appreciate him taking the time to help me out.
Justin, i apologize, i didn't mean to slander his intelligence, merely his video skills. It is difficult for me to find someone to do video for me too, so i understand you being grateful. Its just that i see so much bad video, and im FAR from an expert and i know i do better.

Thanks guys. When I built this engine I was hoping for 6.30's with 1.33-4 60'. It's exceeded what I and others thought it would et and mph. It's taken a while to get there (3 years) but my goals have been met. Now I'm not sure what to do. LOL

SSG, the 325's are on 15x10" wheels with a 3 1/2" back space. When I mini tubbed it the rear width was ordered to be able to use a 15x12" wheel with a 4 1/2" back space. The sidewalls are shot on my tires but I do have a new set of 275's that will go on this winter.

Rmoore, it hasn't been on a 1/4 mile track with this engine. It's best 6.252 @ 110.02 and a 1.397 60' in better air on a different track.

Rumble, the track was great. I doubt I'll ever see my local track anywhere this good even on race night.

oley, it's a R1 block, 434", ported Indy heads and intake, Comp solid roller 263°/271° @ .050", .711"/.719" at the retainers, 11.2-1. It was built for and runs on pump 93. Make a post and list what you have and what your goals are. There a bunch of sharp guys who will happily help. I consider myself the blind hog that finds the acorn once in a while. LOL

Ok guys Im all ears on how to get my duster in the 10's 340 stroked to a 416 10 to 1 eddy heads flowing 280 nothing left in .them 586 lift hydrolic roller trans brake and 430 gears. best i have done is 11.42 @ 116 158 60 ft.... Help

What does it weigh? What converter and what does it flash? Cam duration at .050? Where is it installed at, cl? How much initial and total timing? Intake and carb? Who's headers? Tires? You're shifting it where, rpm's?

For comparison, my 340 was 11.4-1 with ported Edelbrocks, 294 cfm at .650" lift, flat hydraulic, 236/242° @ .050", .592/.586" lift with 1.6 rockers, installed at 104°, Weiand X-Cellerator with a Quick Fuel 750, 9.5" converter that flashed 5200, 4.30 gears on a 275 drag radial. At 3240# it went 11.60 @ 116 with 1.52 60' on pump 93.

I’d talk to the guys at BLP about the Venturi diameter.

But, that being said......

I just learned to slow my foot down a bit, instead of messing with a carb that aside from that one little glitch, works quite well.

On my friends old GTO bracket car, there was almost a tenth difference between him driving or me driving....... which was all from the hit.
He’d stomp it, there would be a little glitch(on that motor it was a little worse than in your video), with me driving....... no glitch.
He “stomped”........ I pushed the pedal down.

Probably better if you start a separate thread for that.

Thanks guys.

Don, how's the new mill coming?

Thanks guys.

Don, how's the new mill coming?

found out i need the lifter bores bushed. The guy who originally built it( MRL, should have known better) decided to hone out the passenger side lifter bores... way to much clearance now.. just that side.. he had peened in the brass tube on that side to run a roller... unsure why he hacked up the lifter bores. More clearance ar the bottom f the lifter bores than the top. The mains were 15( way to tight) yada, yada... gotta drill the tube out, drill oil holes for lifters in the bushings so i dont have to pushrod oil. All will be fine.. but what shoddy work... and to think i was gonna run it.....supposed to have been zero decked, knew they were sticking out, but they were 16 out. Gonna chop the pistons to zero deck, relook at balance, etc...now i can run an 039 fel pro instead of having to run a thick cometic because of P to V
Heads came out nice, we went with a 2.05 intake valve. Should go 285 ish, big improvement over what they were( 255) porting unshrouding, nice 5 angle.
Just have to get the block bushed now and put it together.
Be couple weeks before its bushed, probably three weeks will have it back.... gotten so late now because of that setback that likely gonna wait till spring now to get it running.
Had planned to have it back this weekend, get it running, and drive it into my showroom....oh well, it pushes easy right now at least..lol

Stay with it, you'll have it going your way soon enough.

When mine comes out to be freshened I'm going to have the lifter bores bushed. The shop that dynoed it has equipment and fixture to do it.

Dang man, you've got that thing running great! Our 1/8th mile passes are VERY close to one another. It would be a fun race, all come down to who cut the better light!
