For a test-n-tune? My local southern california track, which shall remain nameless (irwindale dragstrip) used to charge , a few months back, $20 to race your car, $10 for spectators. They raised the price to $30 to race, just before the wwIII china flu attack ruined everything. They had an event a few months back, just before the fall fling was scheduled, and cancelled, then nothing until this coming weekend. T-n-t , only $100 to race, and $20 for "crew", NO spectators.
How much do you have to pay, or how much WOULD you pay?
My non-local strip, Barona, down san diego way, is $30 at the end of the month. With the arizona diesel i have hoarded, i can drive the hundred miles one way and still save money compared to the strip thats fifteen miles away. Plus, i can go to the barona casino and maybe win my gas money and entry back!
So.... how far do YOU go, and what do you pay?

is the 100 dollars for a bracket race or just for the TnT?

Steep for TNT...Vegas charges 50 dollars for open tnt.....30 dollars for the Summit racing series TnT,,,,as you must purchase the tech card for the saturday or sunday bracket race...
actually Vegas charged 110 dollars for sat/sun bracket race....plus the 30 for tnt....

I dont know

Of course, the closest track to me IS 100 miles away, and last time I went a few years back IIRC it was $50.00 for T n T, and I only got 3 or 4 passes.

I will pay what Irwindale asks me to. They try so hard to keep the sport and the hobby alive I will continue to support that track just so I feel like Ive done my part to keep it open.

I think I gave 35 for tnt last year at my local track

I can go to three 1/8 mile tracks about 20-30 miles away and pay either $10 to $20 for T&T, but I!d rather drive 145 miles and pay $25 as well as $15 in tolls to get there quicker so really it’s $40 for running at Rockingham 1/4 mile. Plan to run there more, as well as Darlington which is about the same distance. 1/8 mile just don’t cut it!

It would if you ran 5.30s at 130+ mph.

Although I would not want to try and keep your van straight with that much power. I dig your van.

I try too. I used to attend as a spectator (since neither of my cars was together at the time) at least three thursdays a month, and all the summit races. I have raced there since the second week it was open. I just resent the perception that the dragracers have to get gouged to support the roundy rounds bills.
I wish the dragstip could divorce itself from the speedway.

I completely agree. I take my brothers kids to the roundly round stuff and the demo derby stuff there. They love it. Did you see what they did for Christmas?

That's just for the t-n-t. There might be a tiny gambler race, for an additional fee!

I'd tell um to suck my dick and find a FREE stretch of road on the outskirts.
This made me laugh. Thanks RRR. unfortunately there aren’t a lot of “outskirts” here. And the commies that run this damn state don’t take kindly to street racin.

Yeah well.....there's 49 more.

I'm really think'n on a GTECH - Pro SS and a back road. From what I see in the reviews are when onboard at the drag ways they are within a 100th of a second to the actual ET slip

What’s the most amount of runs can you get for $100 vs the $30.

I mean if you typically can only get 4 runs vs 16 runs, that a 4 times difference.

Well, i attended the tnt that was a couple weeks before the aborted fall fling, cause i wanted to do some checkout passes. Good thing i did, as i was going up for my second pass, a front brake spring broke and a wheel locked up. So, load up and go home. That one pass , seven seconds worth, cost a hundred bucks. (I will say i might have got ten passes if my car was right.)

wonder what other racers say is the most amount of passes at each event.

but I feel your situation if you breakdown. The more expensive entry no matter how many runs, is a bigger commitment.

maybe test and tune at the cheaper event until you get the bugs out.

Well, pre china flu, if you showed up at irwindale before the gates open on a thursday afternoon, (and your car hot-lapped effectively,) you could get ten laps in before the crowd showed up, and maybe two or three even after the place was packed. I dont know what to expect now.

No such thing as outskirts in so cal.
Even the "outskirts" are 4 lanes wide... In each direction.

And I can guarantee you, were AbodyBomber (RIP) were still here, he'd argue with you. He'd FIND a spot!
