How much would you pay.....

-
I will pay what Irwindale asks me to. They try so hard to keep the sport and the hobby alive I will continue to support that track just so I feel like Ive done my part to keep it open.

Exactly! You Guys have so much luck over there!
Here in Germany its hard to race anyhow. We don´t have a track everywhere. there is 1! track in germany that is able to let top fuel running on it.
Otherwise, 2 more tracks in whole germany.
Luckily one is just 100miles from me.
So i am happy that i can race over there. So i pay what they want me to pay just to keep it open!

Support your local Dragstrip!!

There's always the Audubon.

Back when the Army took me to the Autobahn, there wasn’t a straight section to be found. They purposely bent those roads to keep you interested(awake). Being the avid motorcyclist, I had not 1 complaint.
But I really enjoyed, when the locals didn’t appreciate my driving, I would get a hand gesture telling me I was an asshole. Awesome days!!!

Same here in the UK last year, a normal Pro meet with TF FC etc running would cost approx $300 to enter. Due to the non existent C-flu with travel restrictions for euro competitors there were none. We had to pay the same price $300 to enter for what they called the "back on track day" meet and our other non pro meet type events were the same. There was no car tech and were more or less RWYB type events.
My mate who I crewed for had just spent over $30000 on a complete new set up for his RR and if it wasn't for his wife pushing him to race he wouldn't have paid the exorbitant fees, but what do you do when you've just spent that amount on a car, you pay and race and everyone paid, some entered in 2 classes, wonder how much that cost them. We only have 1 proper track, SPR and at the end of the day if they didn't do that it was quite possible it would've gone down according to the CEO. If we ever get to race in 2021 it will be the same no doubt.

Probably trying to stay alive through this covid BS. Hopefully the price will return to normal when things get back to normal ?

At our home track its usually like 35 for car and driver for a tnt. $100 or so for a track rental type day

I live about 14 miles from Barona and I’ve run about 7 passes each time I’ve been there. Could have probably hot lapped if I wanted, but the boy and I would walk around to check other cars and grab something to eat. As for outskirts roads, there are plenty down here, just have to head east about 5 miles.

I can go to three 1/8 mile tracks about 20-30 miles away and pay either $10 to $20 for T&T, but I!d rather drive 145 miles and pay $25 as well as $15 in tolls to get there quicker so really it’s $40 for running at Rockingham 1/4 mile. Plan to run there more, as well as Darlington which is about the same distance. 1/8 mile just don’t cut it!
I thought rockingham was 1/8th , my bad .

Some classes do only run the 1/8 portion but yes it’s a 1/4 mile track. On the other hand I always thought Darlington was an 1/8 only track and never bothered to double check, but a racer at the Rock told me recently that it too is a 1/4 mile, and it’s been under my nose the whole time! Heard it was actually a nicer facility than the Rock, looking forward to running there this year for sure

THIS... is one of the reasons why I started karting last year... Cost and bang for buck...

T&T at the tracks around here is $20. The last time I went I made nine passes and easily could've made that many more if I wanted. They ran it from 11AM to 6PM, as many passes as you want. Also the track was sprayed full length three times that I saw and the 60' was sprayed a bunch. This was at Jackson TN, great folks ang a good track.

And I can guarantee you, were AbodyBomber (RIP) were still here, he'd argue with you. He'd FIND a spot
There is always the pro tree at the fwy on ramp! At 3:00 am

I grew up in so cal. There are outskirts but they are really out there like barstow and san bernardino, corona used to be the outskirts but it is all built out now.

I used to work in an industrial park, behind the ontario ca. airport. It was a made-to-order street race spot, and has been used for that for thirty years
The cops have also been busting street races, and seizing cars for thirty years too.
Racing at the track, even a hundred miles away is cheaper.

don’t believe everything you see on TV. They have to take out filming permits and road closures $$$
I'm not in Cali, but I can't believe if I lived in small town life out there I wouldn't have my spots. I know I sure do here.... LOL And I really don't believe that Steve is paying $$$ to shut the road down for a burn out in front of his house in his remote area

The going rate at the three track close to me ranges from $15.00 to $25.00 for TNT. At most of the TNT sessions you get as many passes as you could make. Those prices out on the shaky coast are just plain ridiculous.

With the lunatics running both coasts I'm surprised we still have drag strips. Since they're part of "the church of global warming"......

our local track was bought out by some shady d bag, its been a mess since. we drive farther to the smaller track for events. everything is cleaner and the people are a lot nicer.

No such thing as outskirts in so cal.
Even the "outskirts" are 4 lanes wide... In each direction.

Well i was stationed at 29 Palms Marine Base for a few years --- I have to disagree with that comment. We found plenty of road to rule out that way.....if you're willing to go that far!

I'm really think'n on a GTECH - Pro SS and a back road. From what I see in the reviews are when onboard at the drag ways they are within a 100th of a second to the actual ET slip
A big problem could arise in case a cop wanders off the beaten path (ask how I know) and the fact that the street has no traction if your making big/bigger power levels. G-techs are accurate, but hard to simulate a 1/4 mile drag strip on the street, but great for tuning to see if you got faster or slower, just keep the top speeds down.

Yep. I was thinking for my own TnT. It would be much cheaper if I made changes to quickly go out of town, or even to the next county, or I can even go into the next state ..LOL and try my changes in the same spot

You are almost always better off renting the track if you really want to test. There is usually a 12-15 max car count, and you can make as many passes as you want, whenever you want. T&T days can be a huge waste of time.

Agree...... and disagree. It kinda depends where you are, what your circumstances are, and how and when the tnt is. Irwindale opened the gates at 4pm on a thursday, raced from 5pm to 10. Until i retired, i could take my car to work, bug out at quittin time, and be at the gate before it opened. Now that i'm retired, it's even easier.
If you were in the lanes at five , you could get in ten laps before the crowd got there. On a busy summer night, if you didnt get there by 7:30, you got one or two. I have seen racers pull into tech at 9pm, wondering what they're thinking!
If your local track runs their tnt on the weekend, getting the passes you paid for can be a challenge.
