Small block 426 stroker with trickflow heads. How much HP.

Yeah. I have a couple things holding it back a little.
Small headers, 3" exhaust and mufflers, no hood scoop and 3450 lbs with driver.
Depending on the exhaust/mufflers, that may not hurt it much. My car runs almost the exact same number with or without my 3" exhaust. My exhaust exits before the rear tire with Dynomax race bullets for mufflers if that helps.
 
More than a Briggs and Stratton and less than a container ship engine.

I run little bit more of a muffler. Dynomax Ultra Flo offset 3" that dumps in front of the rear housing. Also have a Pypes 3" X pipe. I have never made a run with open headers so I dont know if there is a difference or not.
Hopefully will find out soon what it will run.
 
I’ve never tried building a 650hp SBM, but it seems like attempting it with heads that have a std port opening and a std pushrod pinch, along with small tube headers is asking for a lot out of those parts.

I havent either. But I figured you or some body on here had. I am stuck with the 1-5/8 headers for now because thst is the biggest comp makes them for a first gen dakota. Now I found a place that makes 1-3/4 and 1-7/8 for a 97 and up dakota. But don't really want to spend a 1000 on headers not knowing if they would fit my 96. Also I wasn't sure if the trickflows would flow enough for the hp I am looking for. I think I read some wear that the gen3 hemi eagle heads I have flow over 320 cfm stock. I might just have to give up on the magnum stroker build and start buying more gen 3 hemi parts. Lol

The general layman’s rule of 2hp per 1cfm flow is good only so far. As PRH said......

It is kind of like.... the flow rate of 300cfm through the TF port we will change to 300 people through a highly developed ergonomically contoured door. So many people can get through the door.
300 people single file through the door per minute.

Now if we open the door to a 2 person door wide door that still moves 300 people per minute, more people get in.
W2-5, Indy, Victor, etc

If you had a big block, the door is triple wide.....
3 people wide at 300 people per minute.....
 
I don't know if any of this will help but we did a thread years back on a 423.5 ci 360 that for fun we called it a 426. It was 10.9:1 compression and we started with Speed Master heads, threw them away, and went with LAX iron heads. Used 1-5/8 headers for awhile and then TTI step headers. Ran an Edelbrock Super Victor intake and a solid roller cam of 258/260 @ .050", .425/.430 lobe lift and eventually 1.6 rockers. Finally went over 620 HP. Should give you a rough idea of what you may get with your engine.

Is 426ci 360 a small block?

I had a hot 406 vega , w/ dumped 3'' flowmasters , .003 diff. w/out , think it was mostly just the weight diff. !
The drone was terrible .

650 isnt easy to hit. Takes good flowing heads, stout camshaft, good combination of parts.
If a car isn't running 135 mph at 3300 pounds, it isn't making 650. If less weight than that, more mph.

I’ve done that and more, but it’s not cheap or easy. As I’ve posted before, I certainly did it the hard way, but either way you try and get anywhere near 2 HP/CID it’s going to cost big bucks no matter what name is on the valve cover.
 
I am building that combo right now.
I have a little less stall in my converter but have 4.56 gears.
It should be together next weekend and make some test runs at the end of the month or first week in April. My only issue/ holdback is my TTI 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 step headers. I don't want to cut the fender wells to get a bigger header so its what it is.

I used the Hughes kit with flat top pistons.
Did not use the rings from their kit though.
Went with Total seal gapless instead.
Just came in from taking it for a little street cruise.
Man, I cant wait to get this thing to the track. It feels pretty good.

Cool. Its looking more like I am going to buy the flat top kit also. What size cam are you running? So you didn't like the rings that come in the kit?

I have a Lunati roller.
Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 310/314; Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 281/285; Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .640/.640; LSA/ICL: 106/100.

I have Total seal gapless rings in my 394 and 408 and like them so I wanted to use them on this engine.
I'm sure the file fit moly rings are fine.
 
Hardest thing to get used to is not lifting while they are in the air

Oh I did not lift for sure.
I just put Viking crusader double adjustable shocks on the front hoping it would land softer. My last engine did not make this much power so it did smaller wheelies.

Go over to Moparts and look up Dan Smith aka "Qwkmopardan" He has cars well into the 9's with less head and less cubes. How fast can you go with stock ported cast iron heads? 9.6's apparently and 9.59's with ported Edelbrocks.

318 for drag race use

He's obviously making more than 2 HP per cfm of airflow.
