Yet another casualty, Milan Dragway in Michigan has closed its lanes for the final time. There is much talk as to what’s going to happen with it, but it’s sold and changed hands. So we in the Mitten are left with Stanton and Martin, both a pert fer piece from the bog city. Both very nice tracks tho at least. RIP Milan, lots of great memories there!

That's terrible, lots of racers from Metro Detroit and Ohio! 65'

Sad indeed, had some very nice days hanging out there.

On a side note, Onandaga is slated to reopen under new ownership, we'll see how that goes.

I was just at Onandaga on Saturday, man does that track need some work. Big turnout for the swap meet to raise money to open the doors tho, so that’s a very big possibility. Only 1/8 mile tho, and that shutdown looks really rough!

Pretty sad when the so-called Motor City doesn't even have a local track!! It may not have been the best, but at least Milan was a track to race at.

Very sorry to hear that but don't be surprised to see more closings.
Milan was the test track for the Chrysler racing program and Ramchargers. They were constantly testing, testing, testing. Then passed the info and parts to the factory teams and public through the Direct Connection program.
I remember going there for the 1983 Mopar Nationals.

The EPA is pushing to make it illegal to convert regular street cars into race cars right now. This is no BS and with the current administration could very well happen.
Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act (RPM Act)

EPA officials (Democrats) have it out for motor sports in general. They have a special hatred for Diesel clowns "rolling coal".

Last year hurt maple Grove in Pa,they ended up racing but no spectators allowed. the people I know that race say it sucked. Anyhoo Im sure maple Grove the establishment didnt make any $$$ last year.

I was at Maple Grove Labor Day weekend for the Sportsman Nationals, I went Friday night for some time shots and the place was packed, over five rows of rigs coming in for the weekend before they opened. Weird weekend: Saturday evening the power went out and their backup generator failed .. total darkness trying to leave for the hotel, then Sunday they had trouble with the tree. Still had fun though I like racing at the " Grove". Now Atcos future is up in the air being sold to a car auction company pending approval, racers and locals are fighting the sale so who knows? I liked racing 11.50 index there ( qualified #1 and went 4 rounds last time there ) they posted a 21 schedule I hope to get there a few more times before they close

Very sad indeed. It was good for local kids to have a track this close to learn and enjoy. A couple high schools even had class cars.

****. I've got nowhere to go now. Very fast cars first friday of the month. All motor cars were running 7.60 in the 1/4, 632 nitrous like 4.20 - 4.50's 1/8, 10.5 outlaw 4.0 - 4.20's and outlaw cars about 3.80's. Bad *** ****.

There are rumors Summit was interested in buying it. I heard Milan was indebted to a pawn shop for about 2 mill and were basically foreclosed. I would imagine the pawn shop would like to recoup their investment. Also the longer they wait the worse condition the track will be in and the more it will cost to bring it back. Don't give up the ship yet.

I've been there a few times... Had a good time...

I had a friend in Wyandotte who's son used to race there weekly... 340 Duster...

And worked with another guy who ran a blue 65 Barracuda there....

Sad to see it go....

2021 is last races @ Commerce GA [ NHRA ] track been open since 1976 I believe ! Land for sale

now, I don’t want to spread any rumors, but I believe the pawn broker is one of the cfo’s on the board that is trying to reopen it, in an effort to recoup their losses. I also heard that the selling side of this whole deal will not sell unless his daughter is on the new management team, and she is part of the reason that they are so far in debt in the first place. She is the current manager. Not sure if it’s true, but if it is it may never reopen!

Yeah that is pretty crazy that place is going to close I still remember hanging out at Detroit dragway that was a bummer when it closed I guess they’re still Lapeer
