It Never Rains In Southern California...Not True This Weekend!

-
Citizens of California are holding out hope that flooding from Hurricane Hilary will wash off the massive amounts of poop clinging to the state's sidewalks.
"Fingers crossed," said Sacramento resident Kevin Ross. "Bring on the floods, baby!"

Californians are rushing to prepare by nailing plywood boards onto their tent flaps and filling sandbags to protect their cardboard boxes.

Nothing unusual here yet. Broken cloud cover and of the very high and harmless variety. Got a text early this AM from a friend in San Diego, rain there, but nothing catastrophic.

Currently raining here in north OC, but nothing heavier than normal rain. The forecast is for rain throughout the day, sometimes heavy, totalling up to about 2-inches.
Rainfall should be heavier to the east of us, especially over the mountains and desert as Hilary moves north.

Raining pretty consistently here now. Some wind also. Nothing major yet but some short periods of heavy rainfall.

Much needed rain, hopefully the forecast stays on course and sends some our way.
The firefighters could use a little help from mother nature instead of just sending us wind.
For those in the eye, stay safe.

In Vegas for a tournament, heading back to tri-state AZ, shortly. When we get there, my houseguests will decide if they want to go back to Cali today, or stay another night, and go back to Cali monday.

I 40 and I 8 sure aren't my idea of fun on a day like today. Almost fergot I 10. We were south bound on I 15 from Jean Nev back to Barstow after a dunes buggy race. November the beginning of winter. It rained on us a little in Jean. Going down Baker Grade my partner says "Move over closer to the shoulder of the road. I wanna see something." It was raining hard, we had stopped on the Nev side because we couldn't see the road. In the draw next to the freeway was a sand wash, the flash flood in the wash was just beginning and my partner saw that lead wave physically pass us. I was goin' freeway speed . Stay outa da low spots!

Lots of farmers in the San Joaquin Valley are hoping the rain stays away. It's not a good time for rain for them (e.g., lot of almonds on the ground 'drying')

It’s been consistent heavy rain here for the last 2-1/2 hours

Thanks for the updates. Stay safe, Mopar Brothers and Sisters.

Boy Howdy. Ojai been shakin' like a poodle poopin' peach seeds
haven't felt any here but I wasn't expectin' any
couple down there by San Berdoo too

Maybe we can get Hillary to take L.A. and San Francisco half way to Hawaii....
My friends traveling from Bullhead to Pomona area are not home yet. Typical 3 1/2-4hr trip, is Six, so far. Accident and flooding on I-40, needed surface streets, overturn on I-15. It's true, California drivers CAN'T drive in the rain.

which is funny, because almost everybody in california isn't even from california!

too true on the travel debacle, not a time to be on the road. the cal-trans app shows all the incidents and closures and the thing currently looks like an info-graphic for a warzone!

nothing super torrential, just steady steady coming down. surprisingly no strong winds in my area, but i'm suspecting it to kick into high gear later. this seems to be just the leading edge of it.
