I always am on the lookout for the easiest way to do things. If it looks that good show us,you earned it.

You bet!

Here is my drama about polishing aluminum.

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=41728&highlight=anodizing

I've finally got everything done and put on the car ... it looks brand new! I just have not had the time or clear weather to take some pictures. I don't know exactly how much I saved by doing it myself but I have seen some high costs involved in sending stuff off and have it redone. It was a lot of work and standing if front of the buffer...you wouldn't believe...I would be sore the next day ... lol... I'm so glad that I finally got it done.

seems, no matter where you post, it winds up on main page, video would be cooler, if possible8)
Sorry no Video but i do have a series of pic of when i sanded and polished some Cast Alum.
I am no longer able to do this kind or work due to health problems.
But have plenty of pics and can have my son type out step by step to go with them.

Thank's for sharing,I did some of the aluminum on the "waggin" and didn't know about using lye to remove the anadizing,so I did it the hard way, hand sanding, but the results were good!Thank's

yes you can strip brite dip on it with drain cleaner or easy off but if left on to long will eat the part up
it will eat holes in it and if left to long the whole part

Please post the info. I'm always interested in learning new things. Especially things I can do myself for a car.

Thanks!

well,I tryed the oven cleaner on some aftermarket parts and the results were fantastic!!! 6 or 7 minutes to remove all of the anodizing and the polishing time was cut down to a fraction of what it took to do the hand sanded parts and with better results!!!

I'll have to give that a try instead of using Lye. Thanks!
