.....here in southern Missouri in the morning. We went out and stocked up the stand this afternoon with all the stuff a normal stand would expect to come with. You know the propane tank for heat , ritz crackers to have with the vienna sausages, the skillets so one can cook the eggs and taters and the fresh sausage. Sighted the rifles in , both the .270 and the .17 HMR. All head shots at 200 yds and closer. We just finished grinding and stuffing 63 lbs of summer sausage and put it in the frig and will most likely smoke and cook it Sunday. Really looking forward to tomorrow morning as you have probably noticed. Lots of tracks around the stand and ther are a few pictures of some good bucks on the camera. I'll post tomorrow evening and let you know what all went down.

Hey Smallblock I'm heading your way in a couple of weeks. Hunting in Oklahoma on my parents place for a few days then heading up to Kansas units 12,14 on my uncles place. That will be the fifth state that I have hunted in this year. WAhhoo. My freezers are getting pretty full. Can't wait to let the Weatherby .300 Magnum bark.

.300 Magnum? What are you blowing holes in? There aint nothin in the state of Missouri that i cant drop with my .17 HMR. If you get close by give me a shout. I'll PM you a cell #>

I am up and getting coffee in me Small block, Sun up at 6:30 so I will hope a few deer get pushed to me by a few hunters here on the hill.
This is the only modern gun hunt in November in my area and there is three feeders north east of my place that has been active,About 2 and 300 yards north of me and I seen two deer stands, It is 43 F. and 0 to 3 miles an hour winds and Humidity: 89% this morning
I just hope someone close by gets the deer off the ground and run's them my way.
There is a few dog's that will be out and about I bet, I don't know who's they are but I am sure they will be cut loose this morning and get the deer off the ground I can see a sky full of stares, So we will see what runs my way. Knock a few down for us Bill and Yall have a Good hunt and be safe.

Gun season starts here on the 21st. Thanks to bpwordman it'll be the first time I've gone out in years. I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to it. Got the 30/30 Winchester out and familiarized myself with it's characteristics, Pop got his .44 Mag Henry's sighted in...even if I don't get a damned thing it'll just be nice to get out on the stand for the first time in forever it seems.

Last day of bow season here, just got back from the fields across from my shop, had a nice one coming in was about 80 yards out and it spooked...two minutes later a rabbit hunter came walking up....I could have shot him in the *** for that one.

It sounded like a war zone here on the hill :compress: It all started about 7 AM and did not stop till 8:00
I walked out in the dark and located myself at the end of a draw I hunt at in hopes of one retreating to a safe haven :tonqe: Hay!! it does work =D>
After it sounded like two or three people unloaded on a herd of dear about a 1/4 mile away. This got me good and ready in hopes of them running my way.:happy8:

Nothing but a cool nice morning and fresh air, The deer are moving at night, There was tracks all around on the ground in the draw I was in.

I stayed put till about 10am so I would not upset anyone ells that could be close by, But I did not see any Orange.
I did stop by the old tree and took another picture of it, It seems to look deferent this year.

How Did you do Small Block :glasses7:

This hill must be full of deer  Ok I know it is :toothy10:
I stayed out past dark thirty and was walking home and seen a bunch of folks with flash lights just 40 to to 60 yards from the fence line I was walking back to get back home :shaking2: They was looking for a deer they shot and found it =D>
I hollered out to them to let them know I was close and not to get spooked :director:
I was on my side of a privet property fence and they was a good way's in to the woods and I told them I was glad they found it, I could hear them talking and walking with flash lights and wanted to make sure they knew I was close by, I think they was very happy I herd 3 or 4 people saying O yea!!!!
I remember hearing three ta four shots earlier and was a bit worried that they new I was where I was :compress: I guess that the woods carried the sound real good because some one said he shot it close to the road that is a good 1/2 mile from where I was at. I herd more shots this morning but these shots seemed to be right at my back :shaking2: After the sun went down and it started getting dark I headed to the house and could here these young guns saying it was a ***** about 5 times :toothy7:
Then some one shout's out here he is :eek:ccasion: I hollered out to them my name and congratulated them.
There was dogs involved because that was all I could hear for quite a while and I said I would be back out here in December's hunt and headed home in the dark, Treva was very worried about me and I know I waited to long to get out of the woods and back home.
Gun hunt for November is over, If every shot I herd this morning laid a Deer on the ground there was at lest 20 Deer killed
But I could hear for at least a mile.
I seen where something enjoyed a quail I think

Man, I can smell some of that cookin'...........

Some fresh boneless cuts, sliced up small like stir fry style, slapped into a hot fryin' pan with fresh butter and some garlic salt.......fryed fast and hot so it's medium rare, and served up with some fresh scrambled eggs and coffee....!!!!

That's GOOOOOOOOD eatin'! Bon apetit' !! Looks like a nice score. 8)

can relate to that, had the same thing here about two weeks ago. Had one coming in and couldn't figure out what spooked him, then saw these 2 kids walking down the edge of the field looking for squirrels. I did shot a doe a few nights after that and I missed a nice buck last Thursday .....shot over him , BUCK FEVER at 58 I guess... But hey eating venison anyways !!!

Deer season starts here in penna the monday after thanks giving. Im going to use my M1944 mosin nagant carbine, open sights baby. Dence cover here so shots are mostly under 50yrds.

One already ground up in summer sausage and stuffed in casing and one quartered up and in the frig. I'll start the smoking/cooking process tomorrow. Still a lot of time to go and about another 250 lbs of sausage to put up. I'm gonna be a busy boy. Can you say "YUMMY"?
