For what it's worth I have a 67 LA 318 out of a 67 Canadian rag top monaco (orginally painted red ) replacing the orginal 273 .

Go under the car your back and grab the harmonic balancer with two hand and turn it like a steering wheel. It should spin easily . I can do it a 340 with the plugs in from the top . If it doesnt move something ain't right .
