The whole area was covered in dirt grease and was basically all black, actually tool the head off yesterday and didnt even notice that it was repaired, only seen it today when I cleaned up the block

I took some more pictures of the misery: The piston has a little dent aswell from the part sticking into the cylinder (see left cylinder in 2nd pic)

By the way, do all 318 blocks have the same deck height? Was the compression change only due to piston height?

Thanks for that, actually 318 blocks are not that rare here in Europe too and quite easy to find, but they are obviously far from free, or pick one for 100 at junk yard or so... so I rather invest that money in the 360

Hey all, I just teared down my 1969 318 engine and found this (see pictures) between cylinder 4 and 6. As I thought I removed the thin stock looking head gaskets I wondererd if this is maybe done by the factory? Anybody seen something like that before? Actually I wanted to reuse the stock...

Sadly u joints are also the small 7260... Dont know whats exactly been done to the 904 but its fully built by a well known trans guy over here in Europe with billet parts from A&A so i think thats gonna be fine

But whats the reason for that or how can it be prevented? Im just worried that i put the stock converter back in and the same will happen
