I chirped the tires in my 66 ONCE on a wide open 1-2 shift and decided that was enough tempting fate on the 7 1/4. The slant runs just fine with a properly working 1920 economaster and a #58 main jet.
What also helps in these situations is having a current passport. Saved my father a good bit of headache. Our local (and previously very busy) SSA office was unfortunately closed earlier this year so it's about a 2 hour drive to the nearest one now. Those folks are usually helpful but obviously...
How deep is this well?
Your state environmental agency should have a testing program. Could be something as simple as needing to shock the well and re-seal it due to surface water contamination. Testing will tell you for sure.
Both really. Probably 20 years ago now an older gentleman in my area was running around in a Slant using a cobbled together GM V6 TBI setup. I'm not sure if he had it rigged up to run in the closed loop map or just ran it in "limp home" or open loop mode. To be honest I remember driving those...
It's going to sound agricultural no matter what. IIRC the best one I heard on a combine had some sort of cylindrical baffled muffler. Maybe throw a Gibson on it and see how it sounds.
I love the factory style muffler and lawnmower sized exhaust pipe on my Valiant. Yea it doesn't fit perfectly...
They don't look factory at all, but I love the 7" Truck Lites in my Valiant. I actually drive it enough after sunset and have been spoiled with modern LED headlights. They're DOT stamped and actually legit unlike the ebay/Amazon clones.
I'm in the neighborhood of 40 and can easily remember a cooling seabreeze at night when we'd vacation on the coast of SC and NC even into my early 20s as a college student. No more. Now with the water staying well over 80 degrees for 2+ months I don't find it enjoyable anymore. Just nasty hot...
I used some generic mass backed vinyl with a reflective layer. Helps quite a bit sitting still with heat but I'm unsure about noise since I don't have AC yet and have the windows down all the time.
I've wondered about doing this to my Valiant but it seemed like an issue with a 1920 Economaster. There's basically no time I won't use AC from May through September so I plan to just adjust the idle up a bit and bring it back down in the cool season.
A not-insignificant amount of noise comes through the windows. Nothing really to be done about that without modern glass. The roof in these old cars acts almost like a drum. If you can dampen that it'll help quite a bit.
We have friends that lived on Navarre before Hurricane Ivan. They never returned. Moved up to Valdosta which has unfortunately been damaged heavily by Hurricane Michael and Helene. Pretty wild what has occurred up there being so far inland.
The Gulf itself has warmed almost 2 degrees in the...
Glad you're okay. I know they don't look as cool, but this is one reason I've been running good all-season tires for years now. I did the "Street/Strip" radials when I was younger and always felt they were a deathtrap in any amount of water, even in something modern with traction control.
Article doesn't say if those were customer orders or dealer stock orders. I mean, we know there aren't 10,000 customer orders even over the course of a year so it answers that question.
Really wish they'd at least put some effort into updating the Hemi. It doesn't necessarily need more power...
