The fender that can be seen didn't look bad. I love the look of the day 2 cars. As found has character and there is a story in there somewhere. Once restored, it is gone and (I hate to say just another car) I would spend the time to try and save the fenders so they match. Or like mentioned...

I measured the current height of the nose. 27" to the top of the leading edge of the hood and 53 to the highest point on the roof.
