Big block exhaust is still loud

Yes they are slightly oval, and they are the best at quieting down a rowdy engine. If possible, mount them before the mufflers for a slightly better result.

Big block exhaust is still loud

If you can find the room, these resonators from Vibrant work very well. Vibrant Ultra Quiet

    black widow mufflers

Not much to them really. I know they also sell a version with a hole drilled in either side of both 'V's. I have not heard them in person but a friend has put them on his SEMA 442 project car, and he describes them as 'extremely loud'.

Exhaust sounds True duals vs X-pipe or H-pipe.

You can blame that on the 18" Summit Turbos. They didn't remain on the car too long...too loud and didn't prefer the tone either.

    1975 duster 360 exhaust question

Rumblefish360, thanks for that info. I know Pypes is looking for a volunteer to have downpipes made for the A-Body. Question- how many variations are there for A-Body manifolds?

    1975 duster 360 exhaust question

Although that kit will fit a '75, advertising as so will land Flowmaster and Pypes in hot water with the Feds very quickly. Pypes makes systems for the A-Body, in both H and X-pipe configurations. You also have a choice of 4 different mufflers. As correctly stated above, you will need long tube...

    Rambunctious muffler recommendation

Can't really go wrong with Dynomax Ultra Flo's. They'll support 910 HP before becoming a restriction and sound good doing it. This is the muffler the F.A.S.T. guy's use because of the flow. 2.5" Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded Mufflers DYN17222

New 3" exhaust with 2.5" Tailpipes

Someone did do a test using an Infrared thermometer from the header tubes to the tailpipe. Wish I could remember the numbers but there is a dramatic drop in temperature (and density) by the time the exhaust gases reach the tailpipes. You can't touch a header tube, but you can touch a tailpipe...

New 3" exhaust with 2.5" Tailpipes

There are certain models from Ford, GM, and Mopar that struggle with fitment issues when it comes to 3" tailpipes, and Pypes is the first manufacture (to my knowledge) to offer this 3"-2.5" combination. So far they've come out with 65-70 & 71-73 Mustang, 65-70 GM B-Body, 62-67 Nova, and of...

New 3" exhaust with 2.5" Tailpipes

Pypes has come out with a new 'Hybrid' X-Pipe system where the system is a true 3" up to the outlet of the muffler, then it's 2.5" tailpipes. It's designed for cars in the 600-750HP range and eliminates the fitment problems associated with 3" tailpipes. Three different mufflers are offered and...

    What mufflers for 340

If muffler CFM is your concern, a straight through perforated pipe muffler is where you should be looking. Pypes Race Pro, Magnaflow, and Dynomax Ultra Flo come to mind. The Dynomax Ultra Flo's will handle up to 2,000 HP. It's the muffler of choice for the F.A.S.T. Drag racers. Dynomax also has...
