    Do You BackButter Your Tile?

    Have always preferred back-buttered tiles. I’ve done a lot over the years. It’s an extra step but I feel I don’t need to press the tiles in place nearly as much and get less mortar joint squish out.

    If using 30 at the gun that’s probably why you feel like you used more material. With the mini gun it atomizes great. Will be interested in how the coating holds up.

    Where did you find the cleaner (t-butyl)? Cheap $$? I know that’s the one they recommend. I just used paint grade W&G remover and let it flash an hour. The silver turned out great on my exhaust pipes. You are right it lays out nice. Plan to try the clear on my 68 tail panel when the time comes...

    Used Mancini’s dropped base. It clears the hood insulation as well on my 68 dart.

    The areas that are bare metal were areas of minor surface rust. I removed any and all rust in those areas and widened my sanding margins as well, especially around the master cylinder.

    Barry told me the same thing. Basically sanded everything to 180 to get all the rough spots smoothed out. My original paint was in decent shape and I felt good about going over it with SPI. I wet sanded with 400 then sprayed an epoxy sealer coat before my single stage
