I agree with the above but want to add to check your rear float level. Also a possible vacuum leak at the rear of the intake. Those rear cork gaskets are tricky and usually need a generious dab of sealer at the corners.

The removal tool is key and plan on ruining a few of the clips. You can get those in clip kits from Jims. Here is the tool that I have used with ease. It's also a good idea to have one of those blue popsicle wedges. Here are a few posts found doing a quick search...

Don't know if it helps but my cardboard liner has been in and out no problem from the front on my 76 Swinger. Have to remove the screws for the door hinge, the cable that holds the door, the latch on the top and the lamp lens cover and socket from inside.
