Good news! Heard last night the car was found in Iowa about an hour drive from where it was taken. Have not heard if it is all in one piece still or not. I’ll update when I find out.
I should add some details. Car did not run, looks the same but has sat for 20 or more years has rust around back wheels. Is a 440 4 speed dana car. Owner last saw
the car in storage around end of the year and was end of February when he found out it was gone.

thought I would post this for a guy in the town I live in.
Rusty is correct, I have a 99 Dakota with a 5.2. Last year it starts missing. #6 had 15lbs compression. Pulled heads off, crack between valves and burnt exhaust valve. Hard to say how long it was cracked but my guess is it didn’t just happen. It was cracked for a while and got worse.
My 68 GTS came from that area, I have a copy of the original title. I have a 68 340 in it that is not original and will check my notes and report back the VIN on it.
If it were me I would go with the closed chamber and thicker head gasket, just in case you end up rebuilding your motor or put those heads on another short block you can zero deck your pistons. Let us know how it runs after the change, I have the same type of pistons in my 340 as you do and...
I have 2 valve bodies for sale, one came out of a 1970 904 trans, the other from a 1973 727 trans, this one has a shift kit of some kind in it. Both pulled out for manual valve bodies.
$40 shipped in the lower 48 for the pair.
I have the HHR fan on a summit 26x19 universal 2 row aluminum radiator and a gutted t stat, the fan pulls a lot of air. The problem I had was on the highway my temps would creep up and with no hood scoop under hood temps went up and the fuel would boil in the carb. I did cover my steel lines...
