So using the hollowed push rods with the edelbrock heads won't oil the valve train? I have a set of 714 heads (similar to the 302 heads) when i pulled them they were set up for both the push rod oiling and the LA style oiling. So i guess I'm wondering why the push rod oiling wouldn't work with...

I have removed the windshield and the 5 or 6 bolts under the windshield gasket. I have removed the bolt on each side, connected to the side walls. I've removed all the nuts I can find inside the engine bay on the firewall. I'm still connected somewhere near the steering column but I can't tell...

Thanks for the info on the pan being spot welded. As for it just being surface rust, for the most part it is but there are about a half dozen pin holes in the rust and one hole about the size of the tip of my pinky finger. The picture was taken after wire wheeling it. That's why I was thinking...
