65 Valiant Ball and Trunnion Question

Hi again everyone, I spaced the trunnion back 3/8" at the flange on the output shaft and WOW what a world of difference. Car lost all of the vibrations it had before. Over the winter I'm going to order a new trunnion and replace it. I really appreciate all the help from the forum. Thanks guys!

65 Valiant Ball and Trunnion Question

I'm going to try my rebuild kit and see if spacing the driveshaft back will help at all tonight as a last ditch before paying for a new driveshaft. Here is a video of the slop I'm talking about if anyone is curious: Thanks again for the help everyone, Cheers

65 Valiant Ball and Trunnion Question

Hi all, well the trunnion is definitely worn! I took it apart and it looks like a piece of the cap broke off. Looks like the grease inside dried up and it got very hot. I was careful to only use a small amount of grease when rebuilding the shaft not to throw off the balance, I believe Chrysler...

65 Valiant Ball and Trunnion Question

Thanks for all the info. The rebuild kit you listed is what I used for my ball and trunnion, it fit well. It's too bad they don't sell the actual housings. Thanks for the clever workaround idea, I never would've thought of that. Might be an option depending on how worn the housing is. My friend...

65 Valiant Ball and Trunnion Question

Thought so, thanks for giving me the conformation. I 'freshened up' the ball and trunnion a year ago while replacing the rubber boot, all I did was replace the needle bearings, balls and the caps that go over them so I'm a little puzzled. The vibration was still present back then but less...

65 Valiant Ball and Trunnion Question

Hi all, I've been having a persistent vibration around 40mph from my Valiant, while I was spinning the car up on the hoist, it sounded like a lot of vibration was coming from the Ball & Trunnion area. I was able to slightly rotate the trunnion (1/8th inch slop?) while holding the driveshaft...

    Stupid question of the day!

You are correct the switch rides on the parking brake linkage, switch itself looks very similar to the courtesy light switches in the door frame. This one is not connected to the master cylinder in any way, would be neat if that was the case.

    Stupid question of the day!

If you're curious I have that option in my 65 Valiant Convertible. Here is a pic of what it looks like. Looks a little hokey but it is handy to have. Not sure how common of an option it was. Nice wagon by the way.

    66 Valiant Rear seat re-upholster

Legendary Auto Interiors has new vinyl for 66 valiant 2 door rear seats, but only for signets I believe from the quick search I did. See link below: Classic Car Restoration | Upholstery & Parts | Legendary Auto Interiors You're lucky your front bench is in good shape, I do not know of any...

    Oldies Music

Weird, if the video is blocked you can download it from a link in the description. I usually download it since youtube will block out any heavily copyrighted stuff like Beatles songs. Here is the channel link with all their videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLMdBY27U64-kwO-PlX57w

    Oldies Music

There's a Youtube channel that just recently started putting out recordings of Los Angeles 93 KHJ BOSS Radio from the late 60s/early 70s really neat to listen to the old ads and music while working on the car/on a road trip. The Real Don Steele ones are awesome. Here is a link to one of the vids:

    Quick Carter BBS Question

Hi all, I Ordered a screw for the fast idle cam on my Carter BBS (Tag Number: 3838s) My fast idle now works. But after looking at my throttle bracket my curb idle screw has no place to go. After looking at some old photos, it looks like the original BBS Fast Idle Cam Screw had a much larger...
