correct z bar for early a body SB 4spd

Great info! I will see if I can get the numbers, but it certainly looks like a swap was done at some point in time to a later 10.5 in bellhousing. The A833 4 spd is likely still the original from the 65 donor car though because it doesn't have a yoke tailshaft. And I've owned this car 20 years...

Mine is aluminum. Not sure where the numbers are located, or if I can easily access them. Thanks

correct z bar for early a body SB 4spd

Just saw it. I am going to call Brewer's and talk it over with them. Is there a simple way to figure out what bellhousing you have? Is it just a matter of measuring the width?

correct z bar for early a body SB 4spd

65 Dartman, thanks for the great pics and info. Thanks to the others who replied. I sure am left wondering what the heck I have now. Mine must have been modified at some point in time. I see that Brewer's Performance sell a 7" z bar for 67-76 a-body SB with 10.5 in bellhousing. Does...

correct z bar for early a body SB 4spd

Need some advice please! The Z bar in my '66 Dart went bad. I ordered a new one for 64-66 A Body SB 4-spd, but it is not the same as the one I have and won't work. My Z bar as pictured is 7" in length. Came out of a '65 Dart GT, which was the donor car for my entire A833 4-speed setup. I...

    Z-Bar to frame issue

Deemo, Ironic, that same exact thing is what I am going through! I thought the pressure plate was bad, and replaced the clutch which of course was fine. Only to find out later my z bar looked EXACTLY like your broken one. Tough lesson. Now I ordered a 64-66 small block A body one z bar from...

speedo cable 65/66 Dart 4-speed question

The trans is not the slip-in yoke type. I mis-typed on the slant 6/904 (not 67/904). I pulled that cable from a 65 Dart but it was different. Thanks for the confirmation on just replacing the inner cable. I wasn't sure if it was possible because I'm not sure how the end piece on the trans...

speedo cable 65/66 Dart 4-speed question

Thanks Dartman, it is definitely unique. The cable I pulled from a 65 slant 67/904 is different and incompatible with the one I currently have with the 4-speed. That came out of a '65 GT. I just don't know if I can use a universal cable and cut it to fit my application.

speedo cable 65/66 Dart 4-speed question

No, it doesn't screw on the trans. side. It is not the push-on type either; more a larger pressed fit type with an o-ring.

speedo cable 65/66 Dart 4-speed question

Need to replace a bad speedo cable in my '66 Dart (the end separated on the dash side). I have a '65 A833 4-speed out of a Dart. I've seen a lot of ones at local parts stores and online that say they fit, but aren't the same. Pulled one out of a '65 slant 6/auto Dart, not the same. The only...

No hassle headers for 66 dart w/360?

Reading through all of the posts on headers in a 66 Dart is discouraging and convincing me that the best option is keeping the 273 exhaust manifolds. I am not willing to give up PS so the rare 340HP manifolds won't work. Not cutting up the fenders. But have a 340 and 360 in the garage waiting...

    HR-135 Horn Relay

Thanks! Horn works now...in fact, too well. Won't stop honking. I guess I have to get back into the steering column and figure out what went wrong with the turn signal switch and Grant steering wheel installation :BangHead:

    HR-135 Horn Relay

Does anyone know how to connect this? My horn relay went bad in my '66 Dart and the replacement connector terminals don't appear to be in the same location as the original. Not sure which wire to connect to which terminal... The three terminals are labeled "1" "3" and "5."

1966 Dodge Dart convertible for sale

Thanks guys, all great ideas, especially the point of quit dumping money into it if I really want to sell it  Maybe somehow I am always looking for an excuse not to sell it... It is a great car. I shipped it over to Europe with me on my first tour in '95. As wlecat says, I could've...

1966 Dodge Dart convertible for sale

Hi, I still have the car and have been thinking about possibly readvertising it, but I just put several thousand into it in upgrades (American Racing wheels, 8.75 Sure Grip rear end, Wilwood disk brakes, front bumper re-chromed, new Edelbrock carb, electronic fuel pump, new bushings in the...
