Ya know, my slant also runs about 170* F. just cruising at 30-35 mph, but I think these temps are slightly below what is optimal engine/fuel efficiency. Could be thermostat isn't closing enough or too much coolant to water ratio? Maybe others can give their views on this.

Professor Fate is right. You can fabricate one yourself if you are having a hard time buying one. You'll need approx. the same size machine screw/bolt [fully threaded] as seen in Professor Fate's second pic, 2 nuts, a wingnut and washer, and a length of wire (12-14 gauge spring steel, not cold)...

It might be better to check your carb and intake manifold gaskets for fuel/air/vacuum leaks instead of the electric choke. Like Rusty said once your engine is warmed up the choke won't help.

Many years ago, when you could reassemble a starter and save a buck, I would take the starter apart and clean the pinion gear shaft. It worked. Well, at least for a couple/few yrs. 'till I had to do it over again :)
