The original BOS for the '68 Charger R/T I was buying from Dodge City (Milwaukee) in '68. I worked there as a line mechanic doing A/C and front end work.... didn't buy the car because my insurance would have been $1100.00 per month!!!
My friend has his sisters '72 Charger at his shop and the alternator deal is killing him. Got two of the wrong alternators from the parts house he works for...not sure if the car ever had the correct alternator on it since his sister bought the car.
I've steered him this way to help him out...
I think Joe is running a Proline widebore which uses an Alan Johnson block and heads. They build a Hemi version which is pricier and more expensive to maintain. $77,000 IIRC. Used ones are around $50K. Several guys are running the Hemi version.
They might use a BBC waterpump and valve covers...
When I was in the high dollar vintage car biz hauling for my brother's dealership I saw the value of mid-60's Ferrari's drop $1,000,000 in one year. Now they are thru the roof again.
Beware lifter prices have gone up to pay for the tooling investment made the company who now makes the lifter body castings. If the price is cheap they are likely import lifters.
Shop foreman called today....cant believe he asked me if they were to bore just one cylinder (the one they sleeved) or all eight...cuz he only had one piston for the block.
I supposed better safe than sorry...
