late I know.. but it is surprising and nice to see the inside of an rv engine, for the most part low wear and tear and a guy can get away with a re-ring or run em as they are!
hey guys, anyone know the actual weight of the six pack rods? also the weights of the ly rods? having one heck of a time tracking something solid down on google... also the weights of the factory low compression flat tops would help again.
I have a 440 with six pack rods and low compression flat...
73 mh 44 I just pulled apart.. on the left is a b engine rod but same beam size roughly as an le rod, on the right is a 6pac rod, however the external balancer is a zero balance nothing special about it
thanks guys, I ordered some goodies from tcs, and found a pre 76 ouput shaft locally, and assembled the thing, fingers crossed she works, if not shes easy enough to do again, still need to install a deep pan and manual valvebody
striped the bottom end completely apart today. 6pac rods found along with provisions for a pilot bearing in the crank, the slugs on the other hand...wayyyyy down in the holes... while pulling the heads off, also noted the 2 holes on both sides of each plug into the water jacket and a couple...
c-body hp manifolds will also work for a b engine for sure not 100 percent sure if they will work with an rb block... if he has to make exhaust anyways shouldn't be a problem
just opened up a 73 440 from a winny, forged steel crank, windage tray, double roller timing chain, flat top pistons way down in the hole. 376 heads, with double springs on the exhaust valves and single springs on the intake sides.
you guys were right I apologize, the number on the spines is identical but the backlash/spline size is different ever soo slightly, the rv trans has 4 pinion's on both sets while my 76 trans has 4 and 3, interesting. thanks. rv trans low/reverse band is completely chewed out however everything...
