Checked the engine grounds, they are both tight. Will take them off and clean them to be sure. I removed the hose and plugged the brake booster and intake connections, still dies when I press the brake. Since we eliminated the booster does this mean it's electrical? A short of some kind maybe.?

To hook up the MSD for testing and bypass the ignition do I just run the power and ground wires going to the MSD from the battery? Also, I forgot to mention in my previous post, that the last time I had it running I noticed my tach was not working, not sure if it is related in any way.

My 904 transmission sometimes does'nt want to shift from first to second gear when in drive. When it sticks going from first to second, I can shift from drive to neutral and then back to drive and it will shift fine until the next time it's parked. After that it may or may not shift correctly...

Looks like I have found at least part of the problem. One of the dowel pins was pushed back into the ear of the transmission and was not engaging on the engine side. Need to test drive it at highway speeds some more to be sure but I didn't hear the droning in and out vibration on the way home...
