Jack the back of the car up real high so the tailshaft is higher than the rest of the trans and you'll not need a pan. Pans just get in the way under a car. the new seal might look different. certain replacement brands do not have that rubber piece that extends out from the tailshaft. should be no more than a 15 minute job.
