Ma Mopar needs to learn a Thing or 2 about HP/Weight ratios for the Challenger
All this talk about the "target market," Chrysler is looking in the WRONG PLACES! Young people still want to buy fast cars that don't cost a fortune. Every time I see a new Challenger it's being driven by a middle-aged man, while almost every Rustwang is being driven by some young punk who thinks he's hot sh**. Camaros seem to be in-between...
But seriously Chrysler has been revamping their cars BIGTIME since the Fiat buyout/merger/whatever, just check out the brand-new Durango, Chrysler 200, or minivans (allpar.com), and before that the new Ram trucks. The designers and engineers are finally being allowed to make their cars BETTER and listen to their customers. Last-gen Sebrings/Avengers were junk (slow, poor ride, ugly), now the new ones will have the Pentastar V-6 with radically upgraded interiors and retuned suspensions. Think about it, car companies spend more money and time first on their most profitable models then move onto their less important "halo"-type cars. I bet you by 2012 there will be a new Challenger with much more horsepower, less weight, and hopefully a lower-cost high performance trim level.
And beyond that, don't forget the new Pentastar V-6s are supposed to be getting turbos in the near future. Avenger SRT-6 TURBO, yeah baby!
