metal thickness for body patch??

Wow, .060-.070 is WAY too thick. You'll never form it smoothly. New cars routinely use .029 for outer metal. Definitely forms much nicer. I could see thicker for inner metal, but not for outer. By the way, I'm a diemaker and work with sheet mdtal daily.
