TTIs Vs. Doug's
When I talked to TTI the only issue they had was with the flywheel and the starter. They fit either a standard or automatic transmission. If you have the stock 10" flywheel you can use a regular mini-starter. If you it's larger you need their Powermaster Adjustible mini-starter $240.
The picture here is from the TTI booth at the latest Fall Fling. It is a 340 motor in a factory 4-speed 65 Dart. I would think he has the larger clutch. Unfortunately, this guy had not put the Z-bar and clutch fork in yet. Nor did I ask the owner if he was going to use a hydraulic clutch. He was having the work done by someone else.
I took the risk and went with the TTI's not knowing if the tti's would clear the Keisler 5-speed, Lakewood Bellhousing, and Hydraulic clutch and powersteering. Just a couple years ago, the Doug's were originally $1000 before TTI came out with theirs so I figured it would be a wash in the end. For the extra cash I was hoping to run into less problems. So far that has been the case. Sorry but it seems like the tti's (couple hundred dollars extra) might have been the route to take? Like you said live and learn and hope you don't get burned. That was a killer price too.
