SFI 3.2A/1 Jacket

Thanks, Stroked. A jacket is also required for any non-factory power adder (supercharger, N2O or Turbo), no matter what the e.t. This car has a Paxton and will probably run low 12's.
I would think some track would rent a jacket, since NHRA came up with this kinda stupid rule. My car's no race car, I just want to know what it runs. It's just not worth buying one. Kinda like the seat belt rule; two years if it's a race belt, no date if it's the original, oooold belt. I dunno.

Just a FYI. The seat belt rule was ammended in the 2010 NHRA rule book.
I was reading the 2010 NHRA rule book, looking for something else, and found on Pg 20.37 "general regulations", 10:5 "Driver restraint systems".

"in cases where the class does not require a SFI 16.1 driver restraint system, the two year recertification does not apply".

So most of us can run a "racing" belt, that is more then two years old. (basically, as long as we don't have to run a roll bar or cage)

Many part time racers do not carry a rule book with them, so I listed the reference page/section of the rule book, so if a tech inspector questions an "out dated" belt you can point it out in his book. I would suggest keeping this info in the car.

PS: I am required to wear the jacket, due to nitrous, on a mid 13 sec car. I have not needed it, yet, but I have had a nitrous "sneeze", with a engine compartment fire. Like they say: "$hit happens".
