Piston clearance / notching w/shaved head

6Pakattack has the right :angry7: MP cam. The failure rate for this cam is the highest we have seen. However the data suggests that it was due to racing and high RPMs. We dont really know. I believe just about any cam manufacturer has had a issue with the cam to oil pump drive gear failing. My personal belief is it is the oil pump drive gear that fails Not the cam. This is why Doug Dutra and I have been getting the gears Heat Treated. We both have them for sale and as far as I know we have not had a failure (even under racing conditions)

not just that cam.....

JEFFTHEMARINE, a member here, had a MP.436 we put into his slant some months ago and the oil drive gear on the cam took a **** and wiped out his motor...spun all rods.
'The catch is he was probably rev'n a whole 3k when it happened'.....
It's not just one particular slant cam, it's a few or the whole production run of the bunch.

oh and the only 276* slant cam made by mopar that I knew of was the .490/276*.

the .528 had 284*, like sb/bb.
