rebuilding the slant6

what kind of cam specs would be ideal, for very mild street motor, very reliable, good on power and gas. i know cam specs for vw's but not sure how much different it is for bigger/american/more cylinders. i plan on using a super six setup, with either the carter or holley 2barrel. would like a real nice mild cam, i was considering building my own header, but maybe ill just stick with the stock manifold setup, and just do a bigger pipe down the back. would Ying off into 2 mufflers be a bad idea, or should i stick with the single. i already have the mopar electric ign setup. any special ways to get it up to 9:1cr and is that 87octane worthy on these motors? im gonna tear the motor out of the car tomorrow, and mostlikely dissasemble the whole thing. im 90% sure ill find broken or very floppy timing chain.
