Hello to all...I am a teenager that is going to buy a project car pretty soon. I need some feedback on one that I should pick.

The choices are:
65-67 Mustang fastback
70-71 plymouth cuda
68-69 charger
70-71 challenger
87 buick grand national

I am a huge mopar fan but the car I get won't need too much work and I'll only do little things like body work and change the engine and transmission. I would like to keep the car original looking but also maybe give it some what of a modern look...

Thanks for the relpys

The mopar's you listed are gonna be expensive to buy, fix or get running. Being a teen, I assume your on a budget or is your dad a New York Yankee?

well for the love of god dont buy a mustang lol and a grand national well goodluck finding one of those in anything close to what your price range probaly is enlse your dad has an unlimited budget.you should look at either some older camaros(3rd gen or older) or dusters darts scamps maybe even some newer chargers like the 71 and up models

loisecken,
any one would b a good project car 4 u.
the most important thing is check ur finances,
go over ur choices pick the one u like the best,
make a plan and go 4 it.
i personally go with the mo,s.

I love the grand national, but be ready to pay. You could look at the buick t type. It's similar but not quite as desireable. (still a turbo V6 car) the others will more than likely be a shell of a car for $10,000. But not knowing your budget I don't know where to lead you. A nice duster, dart, ect could be had for alot less. I picked mine up for $1200 with a running 318. If I would have put a trans in it, I could of had it on the road as a driving project. So that might be the better way to go.

Get a complete mopar that has restorable parts.

The mustang is about the only one you can build from a catalog- dime a dozen.

Obviously, lookin at cars like what's on your list tells me a couple of things. Either you're not broke by a long shot, or you have absolutely no clue of what any of the cars on your list go for. If you have the money to spend, the E body (Cuda and Challenger) Mopars will be the best return on your investment. Especially if the entire car can be had with numbers matching drivetrain. They would be followed in value by the Charger the Grand National and then the Rustang. Depending on the model, the Grand National could rank higher on the list. Especially if it's a GNX and in good or better condition. Those cars still command good prices.

Let me take this opportunity to say welcome. I see this is your first post and know little about this site. You're gona like it. Before we can make a rational comment on your questions we'll need to know just a little bit more about the situation. On your list, are these cars you already have access to? What kinda money do you have to work with? What are your abilities with the issue of cars? Body work, mechanical type of stuff? Keep in mind that you've happened onto the best A body Mopar site on the web so if you think they are favored here then you're probably right. Without knowing the answer to any of my questions let me say this. Darts, Dusters and Demons will be the most finacially doable of any Mopar. Give us some more details and we'll try and steer ya in the correct direction. Make yourself at home.

Figure out what you have or want to spend and then start shopping (ie. craigslist, newspaper, internet ect.) and your choices and preference's will sort themselves out on their own. Welcome to FABO. By the way their is a nice 70 duster 340 4 speed for sale on here for 13000 and change. From the pictures it looks good and would be a nice ride, sorry I know an A body wasn't on your list but I'm kind of partial.

Welcome and I see there is still allot of questions to be answered here loisecken :happy10:
If I had unlimited money I would go with the 70 71 Cuda's =P~
Just my opinion =P~
So is this going to be your first project car to own ?
We hope to hear back from you and remember one main thing :happy10:
Enjoy every minute you get to spend with your project and do all you can to make it safe to work on, Wear eye protection and double up on jack stands 8)
And be proud of the car you pick, If it is a MoPar we have the best of the best tec's here to help and cheer you along.:happy10:

If your looking to build and sell, whatever you can afford.
If you're looking to adopt, you should test drive and research the various models and choose what suits you or what you are most comfortable in.

all the mopars you listed are some of most sought after and expensive. the nationals are nice cars (good friend owns one) but seems like everyone i run across is still all together and not cheap. The mustang might be the cheapest and easiest fo find parts. but being a fastback is gonna be more money to buy

Of these choices I would go with a Mustang project. They are inexpensive and parts are easy to find.

I would not go with…………………

70-71 plymouth cuda
68-69 charger
70-71 challenger

Unless your college is already payed for and you have a build budget of at least $30,000 + the car cost.

As far the 87 buick grand national…… Lots of nice ones out there for a good price. I wouldn't restore one when you can get a nice driver for less.

Get a Dart, that would be the best choice of all.

Well if you are looking for a mustang fastback I have a 65,complete but all apart#matching C code. All the cars you listed are kind of high dollar, but if you got it,go for the bad boys.Prices are down.Good Luck
