Both.
Drive to local cruises...I can go 130 -150 round trip and do frequently.
Tow to long distance events for security and saving GAS.
When I get it out I make sure to drive it.....get it out, get it warm then throw it around like it's meant to be.
I guess If I had a follower vehicle with tools, tow bar, gas, extra hand, etc then I would try to go on a long distance cruise to a destination.....200+ miles.
I think most people tow to preserve the ride for another day and to have a portable garage....and there is nothing wrong with that.
