christmas deppression

I think Seasonal Affective Disorder has a lot to do with it, plus the tremendous expectations for those with their own families combined with the present economy and possibly rememberances of losing a family member in the fall or winter. Mix up all these emotions with the loss of a job plus drugs and/or alcohol and that makes for a potent and dangerous mixture.

What can be done about this on an individual level?
1. Talk about it to someone. A lot of guys won't for fear of being considered weak.
2. Stay away from booze when pissed off or sad. Alcohol just exagerates what one already feels.
3. They sell big *** lights you hang out under for an hour or so. It's really supposed to help those with SAD.
4. Help someone else. It keeps your mind off your own troubles.
5. No family? Hang with friends! That's what I'll be doing.

I hope this might help someone.....
