727 in need of a rebuild, need input!

Wow good things about TCI. Never heard that on any Mopar forum. Generally most Mopar guys say TCI stands for "turns to crap instantly". B&M are no different IMO.

As for a rebuild kit I always get mine from www.bulkpart.com They have the kits with the Red clutch linings and that's all you need. Only one problem with the kits from them is they are just a basic kit i.e. a clutch and steel plate set, gaskets and sealing rings. To properly rebuild a trans. you need to replace the bushings and thrust washers also. You also need a selection of selective thrust washers that go behind the front pump so you can adjust the end play. Another thing you need for building a perf. or hd trans. is 1 or 2 gear train shims. You have to buy a pack of 10 but their cheap. About $12-13 a pack if I remember right. You'll also need a filter, set of bands (use std. high perf bands, not Kevlar bands) and sprague roller and spring kit. It sounds like a lot but they are all cheap. I just did a trans. recently for a buddy and all the parts only cost about $200 shipped.

Since you said it had a shift kit in it you won't need to do that again. In fact you probably can't do that again without finding a stock valve body to put it in because most kits have you do some drilling and if you try to install another kit there may be interference problems. I'd just disassemble the valve body and give it a good cleaning and put it back together and use it as is.
