I bought a 2000 chrysler neon...no comparison to the older neons that are prone to head gasket failure, and its very quite to drive in compared to older first generation ones. works very well so I decided to store it for the winter, so I bought another 2002 neon and it works really well bought are automatic
same engine, different headgasket, buy one with a recently blown one for cheap, spend the $60 on the gaskets and fix it in an afternoon. you can get a fun and MPG friendly car for potentally $300 or so. I do have to say a 2000-newer neon is alot more comfortable and quiet but its also 400 pounds heavier and really wouldnt mind having one if I had the money and space but Im young and dumb and would choose a 1gn just from a fun/performance standpoint:toothy10:

any turbo k-car would work have had many with over 200kms have a 87 shelby csx with 216kms on the clock runs great burns no oil leaks a lil but 25mpg around town and will smoke most stock stangs 0-60 of course

I run my 94' wrangler during the summer months I did a frame up on it 2 years back.
for a regular beater for now is a (hate to say it) is a 00' f-150 2 wd 8' box
6 cylinder auto that was our mechanics at work parts truck that had 86 k on it,I picked it up for $900.
I really need to have a truck.
My regular truck/Plow truck/hauler is a 07' GMC 2500 HD 4X4 6.6 turbo diesel/Allison.
But my favorite and my daughter's is the DART.

I kept my 1996 Plymouth Voyager 2.4L minivan because it has little resale value (~$1K Blue Book) and is fairly simple and reliable (for a newer car). If you can find one <$1000 it might be a good daily driver. It gets ~25 mpg hwy. With the seats out, 4x8 plywood sits flat though you must tie the door down (not for Grand models). It offers much of the utility of a pickup, plus the load is protected and it loads low. It is better for tasks like moving furniture than a pickup. I even moved a piano with it. Some claim the 4 cyl is under-powered, but mine accelerates well. One son uses it mostly now. Perhaps the biggest drawback for many are memories of the SUV ads that ridicule a man driving a minivan. That only bothers "girly-men", as our ex-Gov would say.
