couple R-154 swap questions

Ok, went back and looked up what Clair had to say.

The Liberty bell bolted up fine to his block. There was one hole that didn't line up, similar to an early bell bolted to a GenIII Hemi, but he wasn't concerned about it.

The stock SB 130T flywheel cleared the bell. It was close, but it doesn't hit anything.

The problem was that the liberty specific starter would not engage the ring gear, because it was too far out from the block. If the ring gear could be moved back on the flywheel, it looked like it would work. Clair's flywheel was stepped and would not allow it to be repositioned.

So, if a flywheel could be accessed that would allow the ring gear to be positioned .3"-.5" closer to the block, it was possible that a 3.7L v6 Jeep Liberty bellhousing could be used to bolt an R154 trans to the back of a Mopar small block.

As a bonus (or poke in the eye, depending on how you look at it), at the time, the 3.7L bellhousing was less than $50 NEW from Mopar.
