Question
I have a 71 Duster that was originally a 3 speed on the floor so it has the factory floor hump. When I bought it, it was converted to 727 auto with a column shifter. I am in the process of making her a 4 speed on the floor and wanted to know if I can use some or all of the steering column I have now and just replace the top sections next to the steering wheel? Or, do I have to find a steering column that is specifically for a floor shift application. If so, I know that many parts are interchangable with trucks and vans, are they the same for an A-Body? Also, in the mid 70's the manual shift steering columns have that theft deterent "ring" that you have to hold while you turn the key to start the car. Did the 70 and 71 dusters have this. From the pictures I've seen, I'm thinking... not. Any ideas? Thanks!
