Used rustoleum plastic primer and it seems to have done the trick. Fogged three light coats onto the bases and everything seems fine. Will let sit overnight before "chroming" the bases.

Satin cleared the pedals and attached the last of the stainless trim to the door panels. Pulled some of the gutter trim off the car tonight.
