wagon 1/4 glass instalation question..

the last guy removed the 1/4 glass and the w/strip fell apart. i want to set the window back in place so i can drive it, but i will need to take the glass back out later. question is, can i put it in with window sealant or do i have to spend the giant bucks and get the strip?
