Tuning a carb for 1st gear performance

The carb doesnt know what gear your in. The problem is rpm related. You can gear it and make it easier, of fix the problem. Your tune is off. The intake is mismatched. Teh XE262 is a killer cam, but you need a dual plane for your current setup. It should be roasting a tire, not sputtering. In my experience, Edelbrocks are naturally lean, and the step up spring is too heavy for a larger than stock cam. Buy the track kit, and follow the instructions for setting the carb up. My guess is one step lighter springs will cure it.
