I have a 74 scamp with a 360 with hooker super competition headers and was thinking about bolting up some purple hornies and being done with it. i just dont know what it will sound like and how it would perform. i have 484 cam, high rise intake,30 over new built engine and several other upgrades besides new heads. if anyone can help me out with some opinions it would be much appreciated thanks again

They still make them?
I didn't know that!
They are LOUD if you like that.

I had a set of these on a a 429 Cobra Torino. They are loud and proud! If your car is a daily driver I would stay away from them.

Friend of mine at Miramar got a ticket, put these on his 55 Chivvy with brand new headers around 71-73. Came back to the hobbyshop, laughed, shook his head. Said the "CHP at the inspection station wouldn't even let him in the office." He dug around in the dumpster, dug out FOUR old glass packs people threw in, welded 'em all under there, and went and got passed. Then came back, threw it all away and put those awful awfuls back on.

If you like having your hearing go away, a constant vibration as your ears flap at the same RPM as your engine, go for it

Most irritating, obnoxious, and obviously illegal "so called mufflers" ever made.

Haven't heard that name in years and years.

Purple Hornies oh my god, It's been years since I heard that name but they were very loud and rapped like crazy on deceleration. I must be getting old

I have those currently on my Duster, just attached to the headers and honestly,I dont like them.Im not sure how they will fit on your Scamp, but on my Duster, the passenger side muffler hangs very low,and the drivers side muffler barely fits at all.

they are still around, made by flowtech.. to be honest im not a fan of them for one simple reason, why put a 2" muffler right after you headers that probably has 3" collectors?

they sound better than cherry bombs, but they are really not practical. very hard to hang nice (like a cherry bomb) they are just too odd shaped

My son-in-laws dart had them on it when he bought it. Not bad at an idle, but very loud when excelerating, he has borelas on it now.

After thinking for a while the only thing these work well on was Jeeps. But if you like them run them.
