I have smoked for 31 years (since age 15) and have never went 3 waking hours without a cigarette until now. My doctor prescribed me Chantix when I went in for something else and it works. If there is anyone else wanting to quit look in to this on www.chantix.com

Congrats and good luck... Thank God I never picked up that habit!!!!! I bet you will feel like a new man....

Congratulations!

I smoked for 19 years. Smoke free for almost 4 now. Went cold turkey, it is hard but definately worth it.

I can smell food driving down the highway now, and can tell when a woman washed her hair just by walking by her!

I have a better sense of smell, better beathing and too much apetite. The biggest thing is I have more energy. I have been out in the garage working on the Dart, which is great, and it helps. Installing a 4secondflat recurve distributor and ignition package.

Congrats, I quite last Sept and feel much better. Still get the craving once and a while but I'll never go back.

I smoked for 25 years....this Easter will be 5 years I'm tobacco free. My sense of smell, and taste, changed dramatically. Now when I have a smoker near me I can't believe I used to smell "like that..." I also quit cold-turkey and I STILL get cravings. Fortunately, I lost weight when I quit. Go figure.

Congrats and I wish you luck STAYING smoke-free.

Thanks everyone for the support. I think I saw AdamR post last fall that he quit and John thanks again for the stickers.

I quit cold turkey Thanksgiving 1993. The first week was the easiest it was the 2nd thru 4th week that was the worst for me. I don't know if it will be the same for you but don't cave in, you can do it.

So glad to hear this, I do have an idea for you. Take your old habit money and stuff it in a jar for 1 year and then use your proceeds to fund your next project you will be pleasantly surprised and further encouraged by what you will be rewarded with.

i quit cold turkey 3 years ago after having smoked 10 years.

actually, not entirely true, i turned a nicotine addiction into a peppermint round addiction, which was easier to kick ;-)

what ever works right?

I figured it out. Now that the wife stopped we have an extra $3650 a year. Yup 1 pack a day each.

9secSmallblock, I see my last name on your car. I am located in Erie,Pa. I here there is a drag strip in between Cleveland and Sandusky Ohio that is pretty good? Could probably use the money I save to go up there for the weekend. Might even take the wife.

Sounds kewl ot me, but I would rec'd the Chrysler show in Norwalk Ohio third weekend in Sept. Very good show with lots of good drag cars and show cars, would be well worth your trip, and not that much further for you.

Hey K3522,

That's great.. stay with it, you will never regret giving them up, I been pretty much smoke free for about 5 yrs now. I go to Canada every year for two weeks fishing and I take some with me but then I don't touch them again until the next fishing trip. My wife stills smokes and it's tuff sometimes being around her and not picking one up but I have not so far. I know I feel a lot better and more wind for sure !! Good Luck Dude.....

I see you're from Erie , I'm down here in Franklin, my wife is from Erie so we're up there all the time visiting. By the way you got one awesome looking dart.

I too quit cold turkey about 4.5 years ago, and now very rarely get a craving smoked a pack a day. I went to fast food places and tore through straws like crazy, constantly chewed through them like there was no tommorow. Started off thinking that I wouldn't use gum, because I don't like gum. I did gain some crazy weight though.

Godd Deal, Thats Great How Much Was The Script?, My Wife Is Getting Ready To Quit, Me I Havent Had One In 10 Years, You Will Be Glad You Did!

It is time for me to quit !!
It would be the best, and smartest thing for me to do the same.
My wife smokes and has been at a new job for about a year.
So it may take me to quite first, Then ask her too.

You can do it brother, just take it one day at a time. I quit in 1991. I put half the money I spent on smokes in a jar on my dresser and told myself I would spend that money on luxury stuff. I bought a new TV, a videocamera, a trip to England....eventually I had to open a bank account! I don't do it anymore, but it helped me SEE the rewards from quitting.

Thanks 65s reading this post is motivating!! :naka:

Likewise for me! Quit day after labor day, after like 15 yrs!

I quit 2 or 3 times after smoking for well over 15 years. Can't remember when I quit for good but it has to have been over a dozen years ago. I can't stand the things, don't like the smell, they give me headaches when I'm around 'em, & I still find myself wanting one every once in a while! I just finally figured out that if I don't buy them, I don't smoke them. Plus, my wife's a doctor, so if I hadn't quit I would have never heard the end of it. [-X And They're SO EXPENSIVE now! Our state just voted in a $1 per pack tax increase on them last fall!
