what kind of oil for new rebuild

-
OK people, I was able to get some pertinent info on ZDDP content from one oil company, Vavloline. I tried to get the same info from for the Delo400 and Rotella branded oils from thier websites with no luck. One more reason to buy from Valvoline. Anyway, here you all go:

This is VR-1: http://www.valvoline.com/products/VR-1 Racing Motor Oil.pdf

This is the "Not Street Legal Racing Oil": http://www.valvoline.com/products/Specialty Racing Oils.pdf

Here's their standard "All Weather Oil": http://www.valvoline.com/products/All-Climate.pdf

Note the zinc content in each, which is notated in percent by weight. The racing oils are .120-.130% and the "All Weather" standard stuff runs .080%.

This is food for thought and I wonder what percent by weight the ZDDP content of oil ten years ago was? OK, fire away!

Ace, you want pour points and centistokes? It's right here! Um, check your Chevron link, I just get a "search" page.

Well brainiac. The car has two motors. One small block and one 440 MOPAR BIG BLOCK. However if in your infinite wisdom you happen to stumble upon the welcome wagon Post you will see I have a 68 Barracuda I am restoring. Is this A body enough for you to stop being the A BODY POLICE ? So next time you feel the urge to ADD SOMETHING. Please do your research first. Is ok if I still post on this site? Or do I have to own more than one A-body to keep you happy?

Sorry!! Whatever!!! Guess I asked a stupid question. Nice motor. Us mopar folks need to stick together, don't we?

This is funny! EOS is a mandatory for me. Too many cams wiped out by alot of people. Not me or anyone Ive heard of who used it.
My guy who builds alot of engines said " get some cheap oil and a good filter for break in, dump it, then some quality stuff"

EOS mandatory for me also, I use it( 1/2 dose) in all my flat tappet engines at every oil change . Earlier in this post Ted Sweet mentioned it was being discontinued by GM. I beter see if I can order another case before its too late. PS ... I will be switching to Brad Penn for my mechanical cammed 408 as the local speed shop now carries it.
