need to heli coil #3 spark plug on my x head i was told this
could be done while in car can anybody give me some thoughts thanks
 
Yes, you can do it in the car.
It's not that bad of a job really.
 
I would pull that head off to do it in my opinion. Any filings or shrapnel will follow the rule of gravity and go down...into the cylinder. JMO
 
Be sure to put grease on the tap to catch most the trash so it won't fall inside.
 
Small pieces of anything,including valves, get tossed out into the exhaust.
Before it starts, I said small pieces of the valve. After the piston has beat it into small pieces. With the help of the head.
 
Make sure the piston is about a half inch away from top dead center.
When you are done, crank it up to TDC and stick a shop vac up to the hole.
If you have a small magnet, swipe it around just for grins and giggles.

Install plug and go for a ride.
 
Follow jefflock and yellowdartdaves suggestions and you will be golden.
 
hey bought the heli coil kit at napa took my time and success was had. Did have more chips than wanted fall into cylinder .Took small piece of hose taped it into shop vac and
was able to get most every thing. than took small piece of mechanics wire with small piece of rag dipped in oil and swabed the cylinder wall till everything was gone thanks
