Generic sound deadener

In the ebay ad it says "black compound" base.......I could be wrong, but I believe this is their nice way of saying 'asphalt' base. The butyl-based products (Dynamat, Secondskin, RaamMmat) have a greater resistance to heat than the asphalt-based products. Just something to keep in mind.

The advantage of the asphalt products, however, is that they are generally less expensive.

I wouldn't normally use an asphalt-based product myself, but if I had to then I would probably consider it for the floorplan - but not the doors.

I'm concerned about that as well, I'm curious if if the non Butyl compound gasses at all. I'd be concerned that the inside of my car would smell like roofing tar, so I thought I'd ask to see if any fellow members had any experiences to share.
