Edelbrock 1406 whistling

I just replaced the same carb you are speaking about (1406). My problem was it just poured gas out the small vent like areas on each side on top. It did it not on one but two of them. It got costly on gas when it started this going down the road and when I got where I was going it was flooded so bad the air filter was soaked with gas so bad you could pour it out on the ground. I changed to a Holley and everything seems good so far, I still have my fingers crossed. good luck with your problem and thanks to StrokerScamp for the headsup on using water and not something flammable. I never gave it a thought and now feel very lucky. Steve
