My Mom is visiting me this month before I come up and see her next month.

She told me my best buddy, Ricky hung himself in his Mom's basement last week.

He was suffering from a very bad alcohol addiction that had basically ruined 2 marriages, and he was about to go to jail for two DUI's a month apart from eachother.

I guess it was too much for him to face so he hung himself, very sad for his Mother to find him like that.

She also lost her Husband to alcohol related illness when Ricky was in high school.

I visited him every time I went home and for his and his Mothers sake and would try to talk some sense into him, but he would end up getting mad and would tell me he will never quit because he likes it too much.
His Mom told me to never give up on him, and I didn't as I prayed for him every time I thought about him.

I feel bad that he has two sets of kids from two different marriages.

His second Wife left him over a year ago and he really went down hill from there.

Just a note to you young guys with alcohol adiction in the family......please get some help and stick with the program, listen to the one's that love you and think about what they go through.

Sorry to hear sbout your buddy....He sounds like we was a troubled soul......

Sure am sorry to learn this.

Very sorry to hear about your friend, seems like we just had another one of these not long ago, I lost an uncle just a couple months ago lived his life in the bottle and drugs, he had so much potential and threw it all away, they found him in a bus station bathroom alone. My grandparents had given him everything and still he couldn't shake the life. It has been devistating to to my grandparents, they are in their 90's and still can't accept their son died this way. He will always be their child.

Sorry this just hit home, I know there's nothing I can say to make things better, but I will keep you and his family in our prayers. God bless.

Too bad that people do this...

I lost a couple of friends early on.
I remember it was really hard too... when the mother wanted an open casket...you could see the clay type filling that attempted to cover entry and exit in his temple....hard to grasp since I was only 15...

It took a year till I final broke down over it.

My condolences to you and all his loved ones.

tragic loss of life, especially when there are programs and support groups in place for such things...

Man, I'm sorry.... It sure is hard, a lot of my friends have died in the past few years, and I am only 32........ No suicide though, that would be hard to take.

sorry for your loss and his familys loss ofcourse:(
i cant help to think that maybe in situations like these that maybe to focus should be moved from the symptoms that is vissible, like the alcohol addiction to the real problem that starts the addiction. not trying to down anyone especialy in hard times but i just got that feeling that teh problem itself is rarely the alcohol:(

I feel your loss John,my buddy lost his life last month to booze he just could not stop.Prayers are with you.Again sorry.

So sorry to hear this spaz, I had a friend step in front of a train over a women and was drinking and doing who knows what kind of drugs...
Very sad thing to have happen in anyone's life, Stay strong for the family Spaz.

Addicition to anything is a tough demon to fight. Sorry for your loss, I hope anyone on the forum who has an addiction will get whatever help they need and surround themselves with their friends and loved ones for support.

Alcoholism is a baaaad thing.

Most of them addicted are mean as hell and won't listen to reason, they push everyone away and destroy themselves.

He's been through several rehabs but just could not kick it, and it ran deep in his family like a curse.
