No radio for me. I don't get a lot of seat time with her, so when I'm riding I need to listen to all the music she makes, more in fear of trouble brewing and then shear joy whens all well and good.

On my 68 Dart. I just have a small amplifier consealed under my front seat with the wires going back to the speakers. Then I just hook up my iPod the the amp with a RCA jack adapter cable which was like $12. Instant tunes and I don't have to mess with the stock radio. Simple.

X2, My car is a radio delete and that is what I plan on doing with the small amp and I pod.

Mine came from the factory radio delete so I left it that way.

If you have one in there you can turn it off.
I worked at a used car/truck lot for about 4 years. Once in a while a customer would complain, "nice truck but it doesn't have a radio in it." The popular reply was "yeah I know, there is a song book in the glove box ". LOL
I know I look like a dork when singing along at a stop light. They look like a dork in their Smart Car too so.... :)
I have a fancy Kenwood head unit in my dash. It's memory is never set up since the negative battery cable is removed regularly.
I dont care for radio station play lists anyway.
I've got a slim round flat black jewel case that tucks away above a sun visor. It contains 2 CDs loaded with my favorite tunes in mp3 format.

Maybe when parked. When I'm driving I like to hear the car and the sound of burning rubber!

Im going with the Amp and Ipod route. its the same way i "installed" a cd player in my first car :)
When I decide to get fancy I will use a stock AM radio and wire directly into the power switch and the potentiometer just so i can reach down to the head unit to control the music. im just not sure how to make the buttons control the ipod yet.

I should mention my 73 has the three hole pattern and I don't want to cut the dash just to show off a new radio.

We have an almost all original Jensen Interceptor. Has factory am-fm 8 track. Hid a 4 channel amp inside the console ran an analog stereo ipod type input. Can listen to either ipod / 8-track. or both since it is wired thru the same amp inputs.

When I get it running, the 590 lift cam in my Duster will probably be my radio, but my Challenger which I drive everywhere has got to have tunes. 4 speakers inside and 2 subs in a speakers box and an amp in the trunk. It's fun to pull up next to someone blaring some crap, and then drowned them out with some AC/DC! :headbang: LOL

You should have a radio. I have the original but my speaker is destroyed. Another thing on my list of things to fix. LOL

No radio here, I just use it to fill the hole in the dash, havn't turned it on in about 25 years! If I could find a decent delete plate I'd yank the radio out

You have to have a radio, even if it's just AM. Something has to drown out the wife when she continues to cluck as you're trying to ignore her whilst driving down the road.

IN a Street car/rod/modified/resto RADIO no doubt!!!
I was going to do one of those "STOCK RADIO CONVERSIONS" where they swap out the guts and put in some groovy new electronics.... then I went to a pretty large park & shine about 65 miles north west of Detroit (about 50 miles from me.) One whole section ( pretty large) was devoted to MOPARs....it was like a playground for Carguys! One of these ever so meticulously restored to ABSOLUTE STOCK numbers matching freaks had one of those conversion jobs that had recently been finished and installed.... he used SONY speakers all the way around the 4 speaker system ( decent speakers)..... then he turned his radio on...my JAW DROPPED about a foot....I have heard better sound coming from a dying cat and he paid $650 JUST for the conversion!!! no installation, no speakers OMG!!!!
THEN & THERE I made the decision..... I like stock & all but MY car aint going to Barrette Jackson and I have no delusions that it ever will.... HENCE I went out bought a very nice SONY AM FM radio.CD/MP3/USB/AUX that has a true 80 watts per channel, I then purchased some POLK speakers 2 6x9 for the rear and 2 6" rounds for the doors...I then purchased a 6" hole saw and got out my nibbler..... the rear compartment separator I used a jig saw for the 6x9's the 6" I used the $38 hole saw and it did a wonderful job!
I used the nibbler to open the dash and installed the entire set up in about 3 hours.

Some purists will wince some will berate.... BUT I paid $250( on sale) for the whole shootin match ( saw included) the lighted radio perfectly matches my cobalt blue LED dash & interior lights and the sound is unbelievable for ONLY $250 !!!! IF you want to listen to scratchy fading in & out and signal loss from a 35 year old electronics radio...GO AHEAD!!! its your car do what you like!!!!
ME, I'll be JAMMIN to the OLDIES and it has MORE than enuf power to get above the exhaust & engine noise if a favorite tune hits my dial...Also can play homemade CD's OR LOAD up the 8 gig USB thumb drive plug it in and whoop MY fav music all day long.......

I am a weirdo!!! I like everything in my car to WORK....I do not like the idea of showing a NON working stock radio as a facade and carving up my glove-box to hide the REAL working radio!!! I use my glove box, I use my console box too, IF something on my car fails to function it is REPLACED with something that DOES function and I am not about to listen to some fading scratchy crap after spending the man hours and money I spent building my Cuda.... I want tunes and good sounding ones...I want NEWS that I can understand! I want the BALLGAME and dont want to miss something because my crappy OLD radio drifted off the station under a bridge or next to a building.....BUT THAT is ME, THAT is WHAT I LIKE....and that is what I did.....

YES RADIO.....YES YES YES!

You have to have a radio, even if it's just AM. Something has to drown out the wife when she continues to cluck as you're trying to ignore her whilst driving down the road.

You take your wife with you?

I would definitely keep the old school radio in place and put a new CD player with an auxillory plug either underneath the dash or in the glove box. I just like the original look in the cars!

Radio for me. Best rides on this car on really foggy night. Driving small riverside road and listening old stuff, like kansas

My DIN modified rally panel was all about the radio in both concept and goal.
It wasn't until I pulled the panel again to change the ALT gauge to a VOLTS gauge that I discovered its greatest benefit. Removing the instrument panel was so quick and easy,
i said WOW ! I was really proud of myself for a time, then i remembered that my little IVR wasn't intended to be a universal part either so I gave thanks to God for my blessings.
So I got off topic a little. What I'm saying is in some cases there is a lot more to be gained than better sound.

AM radio for news, weather and sports, yes I listen to nascar on my am radio
while I watch drag racing at our local 1/8 mile track on Sundays
I toss in some Bad Company in the cassette player when I am working/cleaning
my 66 Sedan
And know that all my family is heading back home from Thanksgiving
Now I will find time to check out my gift from fanofpetty and have FM the old fashion way
No I am not cutting any holes for speakers or anything
I have a picnic basket for speakers
I am doing it the way they would have back in the day :happy1:
